That really did seem to be attitude of the local highway department for the place where I worked for many years, about 30 miles south of where I lived. While the roads were plowed promptly and well near home, the somewhat warmer and less snowy conditions near work were often left waiting for thaws that were weeks away.

You and me both. My crocus bulbs aren’t even coming up. Maybe they died. Or the squirrels were so hungry they dug them up and ate ’em.
