Rave: Christmas Note #23: A trip down Memory Lane with the Monkees. This one really takes me back, and is a very pretty song besides! Enjoy.
Also came across this one — another song from more than twenty years ago that is sadly still relevant.

Rave: Christmas Note #22: How to Gift Wrap a Cat
This is one you have to click through, but it’s worth it. And short too. Don’t try it at home. At least I wouldn’t try it at home on my cat, but maybe your cat is a Saint Cat like this one.

Rave: Christmas Note #21: A Calvin and Hobbes Christmas
I can’t believe I never saw this one before. Thanks to my friend, Becke for posting on Facebook. Enjoy!
Rave: Christmas Note #20 — Baby, It’s Cold Outside
I used to work at a library in Cleveland Heights that serves a large population of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Customers. As part of my job, I got to take two classes in American Sign Language, not enough to ever be fluent, by any means. And, of course I remember very little now (other than how to say “popcorn” and “pizza” — important food groups so therefore worth remembering).
Suzanne Brockmann posted this video on her “Friends of Jules” Facebook page. I enjoyed watching and hope you will too (although I’m not quite sure the woman in the front row had to get up and leave, and then come back in the middle of the song).
Rave: Christmas Note #19 — The Meaning of Christmas
When I read news stories like these, I remember that not everyone has forgotten what Christmas means. From Yahoo Finance, an AP new story by Margery Beck:
By Margery a. Beck, Associated Press | AP – Fri, Dec 16, 2011 11:33
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The young father stood in line at the Kmartlayaway counter, wearing dirty clothes and worn-out boots. With him were three small children.
He asked to pay something on his bill because he knew he wouldn’t be able to afford it all before Christmas. Then a mysterious woman stepped up to the counter.

Rave (it’s Christmas time so everything is a rave — I cannot rant at Christmas time): Christmas Note #18 Infinitely Regrettable Nativity Sets
As a follow-up the regrettable Christmas cards, we have regrettable nativity sets (courtesy of my friend Susan’s Facebook posting).
I have to say the nativity timer is my, er, favorite, although the marshamallows take a close second.
You really must click through to see the rest.

Rave: Christmas Note #16: The Hallelujah Chorus
I hope you’ve not seen this one before. Thanks to my friend Don, who first shared it on Facebook. You’ll have to click through to hear the Silent Monks do the Hallelujah Chorus. I think the guy laughing in the background adds a special kick.
A Rave About Writing: Should be a rant, really, but it’s a rave because I’m feeling quite chuffed with myself. Here’s the thing about writing: you’re never done. You write the book. Then you edit the book. Then you have it copy-edited, and you fix all those errors. And then, if you’re very lucky, someone buys the book, and you get to do it all over again (except for the writing).
Not that I’m complaining. I actually like to edit and revise — it’s just that it’s such a huge job. Oh, and the reason I’m feeling chuffed is that I’ve finished the initial edits on Myth Conception and can now get on with Christmas-y stuff! Go me!
Rave: Christmas Note #15 — The Handsome Men’s Club
Okay, I know this has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas, but it’s funny.
Why is it funny? Because it features numerous well-known men making fun of their own public image as — you guessed it — handsome men.
How often does that happen? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyGJXLxtVEo
My only complaint is it gets a little odd at the very end. Oh, and where are Colin Firth, Hugh Jackman, Richard Armitage and Sean Bean?
Also, to all those Metro Warbirds who read my posts, I hereby nominate these guys for honorary membership because they clearly can take a joke! (Not to mention how happy we female MWBs would be to have them around camp at Osh! <grin>)
