Christmas Note #4: Bob and Trish juggle to Brave Combo‘s version of “Must Be Santa.”
It’s better than it sounds. Honest.
A friend told me about Brave Combo, saying it was a family tradition to play one of the group’s CDs while they decorate the tree.
From the band website: “For the past three decades the Denton, Texas based quintet has perfected a world music mix that includes salsa, meringue, rock, cumbia, conjunto, polka, zydeco, classical, cha cha, the blues and more … one critic recently wrote, ‘Even if you come for the party, you’ll leave with something of a musical education.'” (http://www.brave.com/bo/about.html)
After borrowing It’s Christmas, Man! from the library, I’m hooked, and when you watch the video, you’ll understand why. Not only is the music upbeat and cheerful, the jugglers will make you smile.
Plus, Wikipedia desribes the band’s music as “polkaworldbeat,” which gave me the perfect opportunity to share a joke I heard recently.
You know that Kris Kringle is German/Austrian, and Father Christmas is English, right? So, what nationality is Santa Claus?
Answer: North Polish. Get it, North Pole-ish? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Well, I thought it was funny.
